The Honourable Mayor Thabo Jacobs of Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality hosted a heartfelt engagement with the elderly community of Borolelo, Swartruggens, celebrating their invaluable role in society and extending gestures of warmth and appreciation.
During the event, the Mayor donated 150 blankets to senior citizens, along with a full football kit, two soccer balls, and a pump for the local elderly men’s soccer team. The atmosphere was filled with joy, gratitude, and community spirit as the Mayor personally handed over the items.

In his address, Mayor Jacobs expressed deep appreciation for the elderly, acknowledging the profound impact they’ve had on his life and the broader community.
“Our elders are the reason we stand strong today. Their guidance, wisdom, and encouragement have shaped us into who we are. This donation is a small token of appreciation for their lifetime of contribution,” said Mayor Jacobs.
He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing programmes that support and honour the elderly, ensuring they feel valued and included in municipal activities.
