The Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality proudly participated in the two-day North West Provincial Local Government Kgothakgothe held at Sun City from 10–11 February 2026.
The municipality was represented by Executive Mayor Cllr Thabo Jacobs, Speaker Cllr Mamikie Molefe, Chief Whip Cllr Kagiso Selaolane, and members of Management led by Acting Municipal Manager Mr Andrew Pholose.
Convened under the theme, “Fixing Local Government: Every Municipality Must Work,” the Kgothakgothe brought together key stakeholders to reflect on the state of local governance and to craft practical, sustainable solutions aimed at strengthening municipal performance and accountability across the province.
Key Objectives of the Kgothakgothe:
✔ Adopt a New Narrative: Align stakeholders around a shared vision for accountable, efficient, and citizen-focused municipalities.
✔ Formulate Actionable Strategies: Develop clear plans addressing governance improvements, financial recovery, and enhanced service delivery.
✔ Strengthen Partnerships: Foster collaboration among provincial, national, traditional leadership, and oversight structures.
✔ Guide Institutional Reforms: Drive meaningful changes to improve municipal systems and operations.
✔ Intensify Electoral Preparedness: Strengthen readiness ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.
