Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality Invites Public Participation on Draft Planning and LED Policies

The Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality, in partnership with the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), invites all residents, stakeholders, businesses, traditional leaders, community organisations, and interested parties to participate in the review and consultation process for several important draft policies and by-laws.

📘 Draft Policies and By-Laws Open for Public Comment

The Municipality has prepared the following draft documents for public review:

  • Draft Informal Trading By-Law
  • Draft Spatial Planning and Land Use Management (SPLUM) By-Law
  • Draft Building Management By-Law
  • Draft Outdoor Advertising By-Law
  • Draft Housing Sector Plan
  • Draft Vacant Stand Reclamation and Redistribution Policy

These frameworks aim to guide sustainable development, improve spatial planning, regulate land use, and strengthen local economic development (LED) within the municipality.

Community members are encouraged to attend the scheduled public meeting as follows:

All communities within Kgetlengrivier — including Koster, Swartruggens, Derby, Reagile, Mazista, Moedwil, and surrounding areas — are encouraged to attend and actively participate.

Public participation is a cornerstone of democratic local governance. Community input ensures that municipal planning and development reflect the needs, priorities, and aspirations of residents.


📄 Public Review Period

Copies of the draft policies and frameworks will be available for public inspection for a 30-day period from 20 February 2026 to 22 March 2026 at the following locations:

  • Koster Town Hall
  • Reagile Community Library
  • Swartruggens Municipal Offices
  • Borolelo Community Hall
  • Derby Community Library
  • Mazista
  • Moedwil
